Product image: Dr. Pen product page.

The Dr. Pen Ultima A6 is a motorized microneedling pen: a cartridge of fine needles moves in and out of the skin very quickly.

Dr. Pen lists five speeds (up to 15,000 RPM) and a needle-depth dial from 0 to 2.5 mm. Needle depth is how far the needles go into the skin. The box includes the pen, two nano-pin cartridges, two batteries, a charger and cable, a manual and a travel case.

It's at the lower end on price for the pens we list. The FDA sources we cite don't show any microneedling pen cleared for ordinary home use, and needling breaks the skin, so read the FDA note below and talk to a dermatologist or licensed clinician first.

Not FDA-cleared
Microneedling pens pierce the skin. That carries real risks of infection and scarring. This pen is sold for home use, but the FDA sources we cite do not show ordinary over-the-counter clearance for home use. Talk to a licensed clinician before using it. Never share or reuse cartridges, and use only sterile, single-use needles. Read the FDA's consumer guidance.

Specs & regulatory status

FDA statusNot FDA-cleared
The sources we cite (microneedlingreview.com's lookup against FDA records, and the FDA consumer update) show no microneedling pen sold for home use as cleared for over-the-counter use.
FDA record or source

"Not FDA-cleared" means a documented source says this device isn't cleared. FDA clearance is not FDA approval, and a listed specification isn't proof that a device works. How we check FDA status.
